Scarlett Yang, an alumni of Central Saint Martins, the Royal College of Art, and Imperial College London, founded Studio Scarlett Yang—a multidisciplinary practice working with renowned museums and luxury brands worldwide, including the V&A, London Design Biennale, Dutch Design Week, Paco Rabanne, Rolls Royce, Nowness, SHOWstudio, and The Fabricant.


Through her expertise in bio-materiality, virtual environments, and ecological design, Yang explores innovative approaches to lifestyle and luxury goods. Recognized as an influential voice in ecological and technological design, she was invited to speak at the United Nations COP26 Climate Conference and has earned esteemed awards, such as the LVMH x CSM Maison/0 Award, The Mills Sustainability Award, and the Dezeen Award.


Studio Scarlett Yang is driven by a commitment to the future of planetary-conscious technology. Drawing from her background in couture ateliers, bio labs, and digital fabrication studios, Yang reimagines material development and production processes to create adaptive, ecological solutions that respond to the needs of a shifting environment.

Scarlett Yang is an emerging designer who challenges waste in the fashion industry by experimenting with digital technologies to create innovative designs.

Through her hybrid approach she investigates the properties of biomaterials such as algae and seaweed, whilst also experimenting with augmented reality and virtual design to dress people digitally. Here she tells us about her career journey, creative process, and gives advice around working more sustainably.
