This season’s Jason Wu collection, inspired by the botanical photographic works of 20th century artist Karl Blossfeldt, was shown during February 2023 Fashion Week at The Guggenheim in NYC.
This theme, the brand’s code of confident, refined elegance, and deconstructed masculine tailoring trimmed with feminine chiffon and lace details, was expressed by Artist Jessica May Underwood through three intricate animations.
Geometric, concentric, rotating circles in the animations speak to the museum’s iconic architecture, providing a strong graphic device from which elements of nature – ever present in May Underwood and Wu’s work – emerge. Moths flutter and retract, and snakes intertwine, as foliage blooms.
