CEIBA

CEIBA is an immersive visual journey that traces the cycle through the three levels of the Mayan cosmos.

Across three chapters of continuous motion, the work descends from Xibalba, the underworld beneath the water, through Kab, the living earth, to Ka’an, the sky. Then the fall begins again.

The project begins with a deep investigation of cosmology, ecology, art history, spatial theory. Josue & his team used the latest large language models as research infrastructure: to read further, cross-reference, and uncover references on the project. Every frame of Ceiba is produced using the frontier of generative AI, compositing, and rendering pipelines. At 27K+ resolution, the work contains over 700 animated assets and holds up on any surface, from a single screen to a wall of light.
